Navi (Character Introduction)

Navi had finally arrived at school. He had been waiting for this ever since he could remember. The Maric Academy For the Magical Arts was the only real school for mage training in the nine realms. Navi was from the furthest realm to the north Adiel. The world was ruled by strong mages and there families. It had been that way for centuries and the Royalty and Nobility of the nine realms were the only ones to go to Maric. Also the rich and occaisonally powerful military families. The idea that power ruled everything had obsessed Navi's family for generations. Thats why Navi as one of the Nine Princes Of Adiel was happy to finally leave the kingdom and his hellish training behind. No matter how much of a genius his father and his magic teachers thought he was if he had to continue with the training he had suffered through since birth he would go insane. When he turned fifteen and was old enough to go to the Academy his father had just let him go, he even let him travel alone!

 He stared at the entrance arch and all of the bustling buildings beyond it. He starred so intently that he didn't even notice Gem walk up. Gem cast a small fire ball and chuncked it at his head much to the surprise of the other students around him. Navi instinctively created a small suppression barrier the perfect size and power to stop the fireball without waisting extra energy. Then he made a small ball of energy in his palm and aimed it at Gem. Gem looked at Navi and smiled his bigest welcoming smile. Navi smiled back at his old teacher who still had that bad habit of randomly checking his defense and reaction.. "You could have taken my head off Gem." Navi said jokingly. "Yeah right, you created a suppression barrier and an energy bolt in a fraction of a second without chanting. No waisted energy on either, thanks to my training might I add." Navi laughed and replied "You should see what else I can do with an energy bolt."

 Navi was glad his old teacher would be giving him his tour personaly. Gem had been the only fun person out of all of his magic trainers he had and Navi hadnt seen him in two years. Gem had always kept him grounded and stopped him from being a brainwashed political puppet of his fathers long enough that he could be a normal kid. To the left after entering the arch were six buildings in a line with alot of space inbetween each of them. Gem said they were all non-magic related subjects such as Engineering, Weaponry, Nine Realms History, The Study of Wildlife, Business, and of course Polotics. To the right of the arch was the Magical classes and Dorms. There was the Magical Combat Class, The Combat and Sports Grounds, Practical Magic Class, and then the multi-colored and styled dorms from all of the nine diffrent realms. But what most interested Navi was that down the center inbetween all of the classes and scool life was a small market town that seemed to sell everything from weapons to magic items to basic school supplies. Gem answered before he could even ask "Its called Cross Town and was made for the students to hang out in after class or durring free time." Gem lead him towards the dorms with out missing a conversational beat.

 "Has anybody explained to you about the schools group policy?" Navi anwered no and Gem continued "Well, the school puts students in groups of four usually based on room asighnment." Navi looked confused so Gem went on "Some students get there own rooms and are matched up diffrently." Navi interupted "What is the point of the groups?" Gem looked at him with the I will tell you the truth no matter what look "Well officially its to blend cultures and people as well as form an understanding of cooperation with others but for the students its a way of ranking your self and it is a form of intertainment for the students." Navi didnt realy like the idea of cooperating with people he didnt really know "So what can you tell me about my team then?" Gem had a look like there was something important on his mind but he didnt know how to say it "Your team is special...."

 "Special how?" "We try to keep team strengths even and balanced so that competitions are fair." "How do you determine that?" "The entrance exams everyone takes, we then match you based on your strengths and weaknesses on the test." Navi didnt know what that had to do with his team "So what makes my team diffrent?" Gem was very unclear with his answer "Your team has perfect balance." Navi's face had returned to the usual calm and cold composure that he had inherited from his father "Gem you are going to have to be more clear than that." "Ok how about I explain it this way. You know that you were ranked number one of all the students to take the test this year but you didnt know that you actually scored the best over all on the test in history." "Thats great Gem but it dosnt explain my group situation at all." They had stopped in front of what looked to be the oldest dorm on the campus. "You did the best over all but you were second in three subjects Regular Combat, Suport Magic, and Practicle Magic. Your team is composed of those three people and yourself."

 Navi didnt know how he should feel about that. On one hand he would have a strong group but on the other he hand to work with people who could beat him in certain areas. "How is that fair or balanced?" Gem looked concerned by that fact aswell "The head master made the choice but there scores on the other sections of the test were low enough that most of the professors accepted it." Navi thought about all of it for a second then asked "When can I meet them?" Gem had to think about that for a second or two "Kailin should already be upstairs and Lee was looking at the shops in cross town last time I saw him but Rai has a meeting with the head master right now so you might have to wait to meet him." Navi thought he might know someone named Kalin but he had never heard of the other two. "So this is my dorm then?" "Yes Sir, You will have two bedrooms, one bathroom and a living room with a built in kitchen to share between the four of you." With a sarcastic smile Navi said "This should be fun." then walked in the building.
