Rai had been meeting professors all morning. Some were polite and mearly thought he was a new servant looking for the quarters he had been asigned to. Others seemed to not like his presecence at the school and gave him looks like they could see through him, like they could see his past. Though that was impossivle the only person who should know about him at this school was the head master. Atleast thats what mister Talmier had prommised and for some reason Rai trusted him with his life. How had this all happened to him? He shouldnt be at this school. He was way out of place.
Rai had been bringing the fish he had caught in to the small town market closest to his camp sight to sell when he saw a fully mounted wagon just outside of town being surrounded by over half a dozen armed men. They moved like trained warriors spreading out evenly as they approached the wagon. The wagon was clearly the belongings of some weathy person given by its design and the beautiful horses attached to it. Rai's first though was robbers but he quickly rulled it out the eight men moved to smoothly to be robbers. The driver had obviously left it out side of the town while he did business so he wondered why they had drawn there weapons. Rai just couldnt get rid of the feeling that he should protect the wagon even if it ment breaking his vow of nonvilance.
Right before the group could attack the wagon Rai came in behind one of the armed men and hit him at the base of his skull where the spine ran into. The attackers realized that there was an enemy but it was to late for them to escape. Not that the group of several men Rai had decided must be assassins would run from a six foot shaggy haired kid who was wearing severely ragged clothing. Rai had snagged the sword from the guy he had just hits hand and pulled the guys dagger from his belt and before the body could hit the ground he threw the knife at the assassin closest to the wagon. As soon as the dagger left his hand he dashed at the clossest attacker so fast that very few normal people could have avoided it. That guy obviously wasnt one of them because he didnt even have time to react to Rai's slash to his throat. The body hit the ground at almost the same time as the guy Rai had thrown the knife at. The sight of blood made Rai wanna throw up but he didnt have time to repent for it now with five assassins left standing. The biggest guy out of the attackers was around the same hight as Rai but twice as big and all of it was solid muscle. A normal person would have folded under the power of his two handed side slash but Rai had fought bigger, alot bigger and he was incredibly skilled at physical enhancement magic. He blocked the big guys swing with one hand, stepped into his body, and landed an uppercut all in a fraction of a second. The blow was so powerful that the guys body flew a few feet through the air before making a crumpling sound as it hit the ground. Rai didnt watch because he still had to deal with the two attackers coming at him with seriously fast lunges. Though Rai was more worried about the wagon where the last two attackers had just jumped on the roof. He dodged perfectly to the right of the first lunger and stabed him through his left side perfectly hitting the heart. He tossed the body between him and the second lunger then he shot around the body and hit the second lunger with the hilt of his sword knocking the guy out cold. The two assassins on the roof were already in motion to stab there blades into the roof of the wagon so Rai forced all the magical power he could manage into his step and shot himself between the two men. He knocked away the blade of the man to his left and kicked the man to his right in the stomache so hard he flew off the wagon. The last attacker didnt get the chance to try again. Rai slashed him across the chest and his body dropped off the wagon with Rai jumping off after it.
The rest was kind of hazy but he clearly remembered the man comming out of the wagon as calm and composed as anyone could be with a girl about his age clinging to there arm and shaking with fear. The man apologized for not helping out with the fight cause the girl named Mara wouldnt let go of his arm. The man was named Saiz Talmier and he delt with the town guards like it was a common thing for him. Mister Talmier wanted to hear everything and so Rai told him his story and he told Rai about Maric and all of its opportunities. He asked Rai to stay with him and Mara while he tryed to get him into the magic school. Rai wondered why mister Talmier had done so much for him.
Rai was headed to the Masters Building at the very back of the campus. It was where the Teachers Chambers, Student Council, Infimary, and most importantly Head Masters Office were located. Mister Talmier said the Head Master was a very good friend of his and a very kind person aswell so Rai agreed when he said he wanted to explain Rai's situation to the head master. Rai sighed as he raised his hand to knock on the head masters door. "Come in Rai." came from behind the door and caused Rai to almost jump out of his skin but he slowly turned the knob and intered the room. The room was filled with books and weapons. Rai had seen a lot of weapons in his short life but this room had weapons even he didnt know. Swords, Spears, Bows, and these weird star things that looked like they were projectiles. "Take a seat Rai" The middle aged guy said with a smile that reminded him of mister Talmier. Like he was reading his thoughts he answered "Siaz is my younger brother. I am Domic Talmier." he said with another of those smiles that made it clear they really were brothers. The professor continued to talk "I didnt want to bother you on your arrival day but I just had to meet you after hearing your story." Rai swallowed hard and felt pressed wondering what this Talmier would think of him. Professor Talmier again answered like he was reading his mind "You are an amazing young man to hold on to that kind heart of yours even with all you have been through.....The heart is a precious thing that once its lost its hard to find again." He spoke the last line with a sadness like he was speaking from experience. Professor Talmier paused to let the comment set in then continued with a lighter tone "You may go check out your dorm now but I hope we can meet again and at that time you can join the conversation." He said it with a smile that said he didnt really mind though. Rai got up quietly and walked to the door but before he left he turned to the professor, gave him a small smile, bowed, and said "Thank you sir....for everything,"
